Kusatsu/Shiga, Japan – August 10, 2015 – Takara Bio Inc. announced completion of a new facility in Kusatsu, Shiga and start of operation at this facility on August 10, 2015.
Associated with the completion of Kusatsu facility, research sites in Japan at Otsu, Shiga and Yokkaichi, Mie are consolidated to Kusatsu facility. Systems used for genetic analysis such as next-generation sequencers and servers for analysis at Yokkaichi facility are moved to Kusatsu facility. Kusatsu facility will serve as a large-scale research laboratory of genetic analysis that covers a wide range of activities from researches to contracted services. Also, headquarter functions are moved from Otsu to Kusatsu, Shiga.
Following this transfer, Takara Bio will further enhance efficiency in R&D activities, in order to improve contracted services it provides. From now on, seamless package of regenerative medicine support service will be provided which involves manufacturing of cells at Center for Gene and Cell Processing adjacent to the new facility, and genetic analysis service at this new facility.
